Default The noise engine makes when you shut off?

Hey everbody. I have a question, I'm new to owning a PT. New to the noises of a 2.4.engine. Use to have the reverse a Jeep with a 4.2. But I'm happy with the PT. Has enough power, and just as fun to drive. But wondering what causes the winding down noise when you turn off the engine. Kinda suttel mid range noise, hope you know what I'm talking about.[:I]

If you're referring to the noise that sounds sort of like a turbine engine spooling down, it's just the fan. Sounds pretty cool if you ask me.

If you have a Turbo, its winding down. If not maybe your radiator cooling fan is still running, it will shut down when the radiator cools down. [:I]

Thanks I have a non turbo, I should have said that. But, yes it has a high pitch spooling down sound. So it is something normal, good, couldn't figure out why, now I know Must be the fan like you said, would runing the A/C alot increase this type of noise when I shut down? [8)] Like I said before the engine is so differnt from a 6 cyl. The sound engine makes while running sounds more pingy but I've been told that's normal, still can't figure out that one either.

Yeah, I heard you about the pingy noise. My friend has a V8 that quietier then the PT. Im guessing just another side effect of spark plug problem like most other things.

The winding down sound is normal, these motors are a bit noisy but, these is a TSB for an unusual noise, I don't have time to find the thread right now but it has been discussed at length.

Try a search for noise or similar.

I have a non turbo also, and I think the noise you are hearing is the same as I hear. Sounds like it comes from the back or the fuel tank. My thought is it has something to do with the fuel pump.[:I]
