Default AC fan bearings?

Good morning!

I've tried to search on here before posting, but I can't seem to really find what I'm looking for.

My 2007 PT has about 110,000 miles (give or take); my husband drives it.
On Sunday when we got home from a 200 mile trip, I noticed that there was a horrible, loud rattling/clacking noise that sounds like it is toward the front, passenger side.
I'm only noticing it when the car is idling, not when moving at a normal speed.

This PT does have the issue with the fan not kicking on and chugging when idling. I observed the noise sort of coincided with the fan trying to kick on.

Is this possibly the bearings in the motor of the fan?

I actually made an appointment with the dealer and I have an "extended care" warranty through them, but I have no idea if that is something covered or not. I don't have the warranty paperwork handy at the moment.

If not those bearings, any other ideas?

Thank you!

The radiator/AC cooling fan is the most likley problem, dealer item cost around $400 but can be bought on Rockauto with lifetime warantee for much less.
Don't overheat the engine or you could cause major problem.
You need to get your timing belt-water pump-tensioner-idler replace as it is at the end of its expected life. Dealer may hit you for $1000 - $1300 for parts and labor.

I know my regular mechanic can get me that fan for less than or around $100 and my dad can help me replace it, but I'm hoping that it will be covered by my extended care. I doubt it, but a girl can hope, right?
