Default 2002 PT 2litre miss

Under load after engine at running temp, it farts about and often hesitates when under load.
Round town or highway, very hesitant but OK when cold for some reason.
Thinking its time for plugs and leads, as my gut feeling is spark breakdown when hot and needed most.
Could it just be timing adjustment?
Belt has been done 20000kms ago.
Anyone else had this experience and how did you fix it?
Love the car, hate the performance and lack of reliability!

Most likely the stock leads. Resistance goes up with temperature. Buy a good name brand of ignition wires and change plugs at the same time.

No engine lights on and as I thought, plugs and leads.
Just watched a youtube clip on doing plugs.... HOLY GUACAMOLE! That is ridiculous!
Might go back to an ordinary car where you can fix it on a Saturday avo in your driveway without removing a whole pile of stuff first!
The car we love to hate!
Love to own it, hate the fix bills!

I believe that after you do a specific job on the PT Cruiser that might take you days the first time, the second time it only takes hours. I would rather do that than have some mechanic damage something in the process of replacing components under the hood and not replace it.

Thanks guys.
Yep I had a mechanic do the head gasket job only to return the car with an oil leak which was never fixed before he sold his repair shop and left town!
Still have no idea where the leak is coming from but I am sure he over-tightened something in there in some obscure place......
He said he couldn't find it without removing the engine again.
I told him I wouldn't pay him to fix something he caused - hence it is still has an annoying leak!
Currently we will get it running OK and go trade it in for a conventional vehical, probably a V8 something...... be cheaper to keep than this hole in the road we keep chucking $$$$ at!

Problem solved!
Plugs were shot and one of the leads appeared to have been arcing.
Simple task, $NZ200 and a mechanic that likes PT's makes a huge difference.

You should've come here sooner!
He get the oil leak yet?
Plugs and wires are routine maintenance - get good ones and they last longer.

I would suggest checking the oil sensor at the back of the engine for the oil leak if it has not been fixed yet.
