If the rear brakes have been replaced I would suspect that the repair facility did not put the "anti-rattle" clips back in. I did this once on a mustang when I forget to put them back in...I was under there the next weekend doing the job again and putting them back in, the rattle drove me nuts.
Know what you're talking about, but there weren't any for the fronts on the PT...

yeah, I thought about the 'anti-rattle' springs - used to have some on my Mazda Rx-5. If anyone can confirm their existence on the rear it would be appreciated - and save me some time - I also found a good pointer on the PTDoityourself.net site discussing internal drum brakes within the rear disc assembly (strange but true) for the parking brake that can cause the same noise - fascinating!

Dunno 'bout rears - haven't changed mine.
The drums I believe are on all 4-wheel disc systems for parking brake.

While you're under there, look at the back of the wheels to see if there are some rub marks. Aftermarket new pads may push the calipers out just enough to barely rub.

No,just some. My Volvo had the little drums inside the rear rotor, my mustangs didn't. I haven't looked at the rear of my GT.
