Default Strange electronic"glitch"

I have a 2.2 diesel- and love it.56 plate- only 41,000 genuine miles.Recently as I drive along suddenly ALL the warning lights illuminate- as if the key was in the ignition prior to turning the key to start the engine.

At the same time the fuel and temperature dials zero- including the rev counter and speedometer

This lasts 2 seconds- and then all returns to normal- EXCEPT the seat belt warning light stays illuminated for 20 seconds before it also disappears.

Sometimes after this hie engine management light stays on.

I went to a local Chrysler dealer- they ran a diagnostic test- and found nothing wrong.Any ideas would be much appreciated

When something like that happens on this side of the big pond with the gas engines, it usually turns out to be bad grounding or ignition switch. Check the connections to your battery for tightness and and corrosion. Trace the ground wire and make sure that's OK. Wiggle the ignition switch to see if that has any affect and adjust the steering wheel up and down as sometimes the wiring harness running down the steering column pulls on the wires.

There's other possibilities also like the harness going into the fuse box or bad grounding of your gauge package.

what year is your PT Cruiser? A little history of your PT Cruiser would help such as what problems you have been having recently with it before the strange electronic glitch started.

Thanks for the replies. The car is a 56- no other issues at all with it

Low mileage-- genuine 41,000

Just weird how the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree!

All ideas will be followed up gratefully
