Default What Transmissions interchange with 2002 Limited?

Hi All, I am new to the forum, and I hope someone here is able to help me. Have a 2002 PT Cruiser Limited, and transmission slipping badly. 190,000 miles. Looking to possibly find replacement transmission from a salvage yard. What other years fit this particular model? Any help appreciated
Thanks

Any car with a 41TE transmission. Here is a pic I snagged from rockautos site. I looked up a 2002 pt cruiser auto trans and this is the list from the part number.

you need to be very careful about what your are reading....

As you area new member I would recommend to call a local "Transmission service shop" and have them explain a little better about what you are looking for.

If you don't please don't be surprised when things don't work out so well for your project!

myckee's list above looks about right. Chrysler used that 41TE in a lot of cars. But you will need to make sure it was originally mated with the same 2.4 engine. I changed out one of these on my Sebring and then rebuilt one myself. The guts are the same but there are several shells with different bolt patterns to fit different engines. The good thing with these is that if everything looks the same, then it usually is as long as you stay within the year models indicated in that list.

When looking for one at a salvage yard, the best bet is to find a car that was in a collision. That way you know it was going down the road when it died. Also, pull the pan and see how full it is of metal shavings. A good tranny will have a small amount, but a bad or warn tranny may have a lot. You can't judge if a tranny is good this way. But you can sure spot a bad one like this.

Above all, make sure you get a warranty. Even the local Pick and Pull here gives a six-month warranty on transmissions. That way you can get another transmission from them without cost if you find something wrong with the first one. That will not cover labor if you hire it done. But for DIY work, you won't be out too much.

As I said this is not all the information you need to know before you go on your way to getting something that may not altogether work for you.

As an example... a 2006 NA PT Cruiser 41TE/A606 will NOT work in our (Todd your PT GT ) and mine as an example without some changing of parts!

The lists being posted are only the base Transmission 41TE/A606 only and is NOT an interchangeable chart from one model to another. And the information is also complete.

This is why I suggested to talk to a Transmission Service Shop BEFORE you waste your time and get the wrong transmission or find later that you need other parts to make it work!

Found a Transmission, out of 2005 PT Cruiser. 85,000 miles that was in a collision. Safe assumption that this PROBABLY fit right in? as is same model and only 3 years off?
