Default Location of trans control module

Trying to locate trans control module, 2003 automatic.

According to Haynes, it's located behind the left front tire and splash screen. In the picture, it appears to be attached to the frame in the engine compartment. I'm not seeing it.
I think in 04, they put everything in the power train control module.

The manufacturing date on the door say's "1/03". So it's not like they crossed over early.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

It's on the transmission. That big bundle of wires going into it.

I believe what you are refering to, are the shifting servos, controlled by the TCM.
The TCM is a separate module and mounting bracket. Newer models have the TCM built into the PCM.

I think mine may be in the PCM as well. Haynes manuals have been wrong before.

I will go out and look at my parts car in the morning, but I believe the 03 TCM is located in front of the driver tire behind the plastic in the wheel well.

Here's a Google search that shows many good threads from this forum on the TCM issue:

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...uiserlinks.com

If you are having a P0700 code, here's a great link:

http://www.justanswer.com/chrysler/6...-a-t-base.html

I believe 2003 was the year that the TCM functions were incorporated into the PCM. The 2001 and 2002 PT Cruisers had a separate TCM behind the left wheel well. The solenoid pack on the transmission is a completely different thing. It's just an aluminum block on the side the transmission with several electrically operated piston valves in it that are controlled by the PCM.

Thanks all for the replies.

An update on my situation...The TCM on my "03" is built into the PCM, located on the firewall. So Haynes manual got it wrong.

So far I purchased a new solenoid block and a re-manufactured PCM. The company used my VIN to make it plug and play. I thought I was covering all bases, buying both PCM and solenoid block.

Still getting P0700 code and all gears are like neutral. I don't see how that can be. All the wiring looks intact. None appear to be damaged. My next step will be check each wire for continuity.

If anyone has an idea, or better still, a solution........I'd love to hear it.

The P0700 is your TCM telling your PCM that it's sick. Most code readers available (including the on-board one) won't provide codes beyond those stored in the PCM. If you can get the car to a transmission shop that has an appropriate reader, they should be able to pinpoint the problem with transmission related codes.

I've considered taking it to the trans shop for the use of their code reader. P0700 says it a communication problem between TCM and trans, Right?
So I replaced everything. I'm not seeing how there's still a communication problem. I still may have to tow it to the trans shop.
