Default 2.2 CDR Engine manual

Hello... what a great site for the PT....!

Just bought a PT here in the UK. 112k on the clock, but for a CDR it just run in..

My question is, is there a engine manual for this Merc lump..? I've looked in the library and found the parts and the BIG manual, just need some help on the 2.2 bit...

Oh yes... The inlet turbo hose is split so replace at eom.
also the watts link is loose so that's 2 things to sort. Also, also poly bushes will be installed at all the proper places as and when..

Regards
Mikee - UK

Yeah.. sure thing..!
Learning quickly about this motor...
just done an oil change.. About to do gearbox and antifreeze for the winter. You in the UK. .

Shame about the "other" forum... you have to PAY to get information..! Wonder where they got their info...!!

Next time I go to billing... I will have to give them the two finger salute...!

Is the engine light on..? Only 3k revs..?
On mine the inlet turbo hose is split therefore tripping a sensor and putting it into LHM (limp home mode)
it might be worth buying an OBD scanner to see what fault you got. Autolink 319 OBD on ebay.

Rub your hand round the inlet hose and see if you get oil on it or look near the alternater for oily deposits

Unfortunately I've done the dance. No leaks, no light, no limb mode, took it in to check for codes and no codes. The car is sluggish below boost, ones it hits boost it goes. Like a turbo lag. Sometimes it drives perfect, crisp throttle response, low end torque and then the next day nothing. Driving me insane.

Those times that it drives perfect, are you letting it run a bit before driving it? I had a friend with a turbo laser and if he just got in started it and took off it would do what you are describing. If he let it run for a few minutes first it would run great every time. He called it "turbo timing". Works both ways too. After driving let it run for a few before tuning it off.

Have you changed the 2 small filters..?
One on the bulkhead and one to the right of the main filter..?

I've noted the the turbo on these are not water cooled.. It is best to let it warm up a few minutes and just before shut off... The turbo still spins and if you turn off the engine it stops the oil.. Oil frying in the gullies is not good. Also 5k miles to every oil change...

And synthetic oil is a wise precaution, also.
