Default Stalls at idle. Sometimes. And rough idle

Got my car together last weekend. Replaced head gasket and installed stage one cams. When I had things apart I gave the IAC a very good cleaning. I have been having a big problem with it stalling out in a inconsistent manner. Tonight I had to leave town and it stalled once. Other times every time I came to a stop it will stall. Finally got the CEL on. Got a 301. Miss fire cylinder one. Put new spark plugs in last weekend and new wires about six months ago. Where should I start with this one? Any way of testing the spark plug wires?

The trick I have seen to do a generic test for wires/coil is to switch the wires to a different cylinders and see if you get a code for the new cylinder.

You can swap the ones of equal length and see if the code changes to other cylinder.

I would suggest checking it for an intake manifold leak. Spray WD-40, or starting fluid along the seams (upper & lower) of intake manifold by the # 1 plug - if the idle smoothing out, then it's the gasket.

Very brave, or like the feeling

Been Tasered lately?

Scatgo1 your problem will considered in the PCM emissions monitoring Diagnostics and should be seen accessing the OBDII or CANbus ( depending on year PT) Diagnostic Port and checking for DTCs with a good Diagnostic Scanning Tool. You will need to note them and than clear them and drive and recheck before the problem begins and immediately after it happens. This will help rule out normal DTCs that will simply appear because of the engine stalling comparing them to DTCs not normally activated by a simple engine shutdown.
