Default 2001 won't start

Thanks ahead of time.
Started dying every third or forth day. Let it cool off and then it would start. Changed the cam sensor, new plugs and wires. Worked for about a week and now it won't start at all. No codes. Bought a tester from Harbor Freight, it shows no codes. Timing belt changed about 10 months ago. Ideas?

Does the red dot stay on the dashboard when you try starting the PT Cruiser?

Does the headlight come on when you turn them on?

Does the headlight dim at all when they are on and you are trying to start it?

After you have done all of the above.

I would suggest unplugging the battery cable , turn on the headlights, then turn off the headlights, put the battery cable back on and see if it starts. It won't fix the problem but it might give us a clue if it works.

The red light goes off while cranking. I also have spark and I can hear the fuel pump working when I turn the key on. Will try the head light thing and let u know. Thanks

Did the headlight thing. Headlights dimmed some while cranking, did not start. No codes.

Spray some starting fluid in intake, that'll prove spark and may reveal fuel problem...

I would suggest we go ahead and see if you are getting enough fuel pressure. I would spray some starter fluid in the throttle body and see if it starts to run.
If there is something wrong with the spark timing it might give you a engine trouble code.
If it starts to run and you get no trouble codes i would suggest you check the fuel pressure. It should be average 58 PSI. Let me know what you find out.

What brand Cam sensor did you get? Aftermarket?
I would suggest removing the Cam Sensor and have someone else crank the engine and see if the Cam Sensor magnet is turning.
You mentioned having spark? Can you tell us how you determined that?

I would suggest that if your Cam Sensor magnet is turning to put the Cam sensor back in and check out your Crank Sensor. Some of the time when the Crank Sensor fails it does not leave a engine trouble code. Also check the connectors and wires going to it. Some other 2001 PT Cruisers have had wires melted and shorted out next to the Crank Sensor. If the problem is not there follow both the crank and the cam sensor wires to the back of the engine for shorts to ground.

have a look underneath the engine to see if the wiring loom is chafed. the 2001 has had a few problems with the loom getting chafed on the axle from hanging too low.
on mine had to repair some wires that were scraped pretty good. I'm thinking some wire(s) could possibly be either broken or grounding out.
