Default dropped dead

as I was driving today the car just stopped running leaving me without any power assists. fortunately no wreck. all electrical systems functioning and plenty of fuel. turn the key and everything is working except the starting system. not even a click from the starter. battery is new and charging system ok. it's like someone just turned the key off. is there some sort of fuse or module that controls this?.my email is is bsides45@yahoo.com

Let's start with some very simple diagnostics.

If you turn the key and hold it in the far position as though starting the engine, do the lights and gauges stay bright? Do they dim? Or do they go off completely until you release the key?

Try pushing in on key while turning it.
Radio display go out? I'm thinking bad ignition switch.

Is there a red dot lit on the dashboard?

If so does it go off when you put the key in and turn to start the PT Cruiser?

Under hood by air intake
Quite sure you can swap with horn relay - then try horn and be sure it works.
