Default Fuel Injectors - When To Replace?

When to replace fuel injectors? How long should they last? I've always used name-brand fuel, except for a short while a few years ago when I used Walmart gas but I don't anymore due to some problems which I believe their fuel killed my PT's O2 sensors. I have also used periodically a fuel injector cleaner of different brand names. Everything else (spark plugs, plug wires & coil) have been replaced within the last 20,000 miles. But I have never owned a vehicle for this long or this many miles and I don't really know if it may peform better (smoother idle, better gas mileage) with new injectors? I can get new injectors reasonably priced through NAPA or Rock Auto. Thanks in advance.

If your car is idling and running well, and gas mileage is fairly constant, there's no need....

I'm sure someone will claim there's did, but neon boards with 100,000's of thousands of posts don't recall reading about a bad one.

What are you going to worry about next? Crankshaft or annulus gears?

I have never found a set of balanced injectors or premium spray pattern on any engine that had over 50k on it. If your wanting to get the edge on performance than yank'um and get them flowed and set balanced. It is about 100-150 at most injector shops.

Otherwise most injectors will run adequately for hundreds of thousands of miles. Our Explorer has 230K+ on the original engines fuel injectors.

so what fuel do you normally use then? In the US the gasoline fuel has a blend of gasoline and a form of alcohol or methanol already mixed.

Alcohol does not make a vary good cleaner for petroleum based products?

Where can I get some of these that are color matched to my PT? I tried all the local auto parts stores but they were out.
