Default PT Fuel Filler Neck

My fuel filler neck has rusted through, and the replacement part seems to be either a Spectra Premium FN663 or a Dorman 577-977. I ordered the Spectra Premium and dropped it off with the car at the mechanic and they have called, saying the new part does not match the one on the car, it is about 8" or 9" too short.

From 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Parts - Franklin Sussex Auto Mall

Part is #4

Spectra Premium part

The parts do not look quite the same but one is just a drawing.

Has anyone replaced their filler neck and what part did you use?

The Chrysler part # is 5278188AD and runs about $400 while the others are under $100.

It would help if we all knew the year and model of your PT?

The part to the left of the #4 is a rubber hose.

Your PT? = 2001 Touring addition

Ok well that hose seems to be discontinued from Chrysler?
ALERT excluded: "5278188AD".

Your mechanic may need to do some adjustment by modifying the length of the hose.

Maybe someone has a better answer?

Hey ptal, take a look at this number on eBay (220824000227) and see what you think. It might be what you are looking for.

Best of luck to you,

2001 Touring Edition - all US models of 2001 seem to have the same part #

I have not seen the original part, but the mechanic says they are distinctly different after removing it from the car.

Thanks for all of the help.

I ended up getting the part out of a salvage yard.

For others needing to do the same, here is some additional information:

Chrysler part numbers and their cost (MSRP & discounted) - for non converatbles

2001 - Touring - Engine VIN 13 #5278188AD - Filler tube $432.00 ($336.96)
2002 - Touring - Engine VIN 13 #5278188AD - Filler tube $432.00 ($336.96)
2003 - Touring - Engine VIN 13 #5278997AB - Filler tube $664.00 ($517.92)
2004 - Touring - Engine VIN 13 #5085899AC - Filler tube $80.50 ($62.79)
2005 - Touring - Engine VIN 13 #5085899AC - Filler tube $80.50 ($62.79)
2006 - Touring - Engine VIN 13 #68086545AB - Filler tube $83.75 ($65.33)
2007 - Touring - Engine VIN 13 #68086545AB - Filler tube $83.75 ($65.33)
2008 - Touring - Engine Vin 13 #68086545AB - Filler tube $83.75 ($65.33)
2009 - Touring - Engine Vin 38 #68086545AB - Filler tube $83.75 ($65.33)
2010 - Classic - Engine VIN 38 #5278936AH - Filler tube $214.00 ($166.92)

The 2001 & 2002 also have Spectra Premium FN663 and Dorman 577-977, but those do not match the one off of my 2001. A suggestion for someone looking to replace this part on a 2001, 2002 or 2003, might be to get the 2004 part at the significantly cheaper price from Chrysler and see how well that part matches up.

I have attached images - the first is the original on the car showing where a longer hose would be needed if the aftermarket part was used, the other two show the difference between the original and aftermarket.
