Default P0340 Code on Dream Cruiser 2005

Hi folks,

Yesterday, my Cruiser would start jerking without warning as I was driving. I would pull over, shut off the engine, and restart. It would be good enough to get me home a few miles later.

I checked the error code, and it's P0340. I plan on taking it to the local Chrysler dealer tomorrow, but anyone has any insight into the problem, I would be glad to hear it.

Thanks in advance,

HL

Cam position sensor. Best to get a Mopar replacement.
Easy to replace.
Google for a YouTube Video on replacing.
You could unplug and check wiring and connector - that's often what's wrong.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think it would be a mistake to take it to the Chrysler dealer to have them diagnose and replace? I am always afraid of getting misdiagnosed or ripped off. I am pretty good with computer parts and electronics - not afraid to replace a sensor.

Check the plug before you take it in...unhook the battery then unplug it & plug it back in...hook up battery again.
If it's bad, code should return within 10 miles.
You can easily replace this yourself.

I would suggest if you don't have your own OBDII Scan Tool to buy one. This way you have better control of what is happening at all times with your PT Cruiser. Make sure its a Scan Tool and not a Scan Reader.
