Default Big 3 Wiring ??

So I am south of Boston in single digit temps, wind and about 7 feet of snow so please understand why I don't want to look myself right now. I want to plan a Big 3 upgrade when it's warmer. Am I going to be able to reach let's say the starter wire to replace without having to remove the starter? The 1 thing I truely hate about this car is its cramped hood. I will take a small block any day.

the starter is up front under the intake and can be reached without disassembly of the car. The alternator is underneath, towards the back and a bit more difficult to get to...

Thank you for the reply. I did a little research today and I think I might just inspect/replace the multiple ground wires and check the battery terminals. The less I have to mess under this hood the better. I already have planned new half shafts, watts and muffler...and I have no problem doing those things but I so hate this engine compartment.

yeah it's quite the challenge to work under the hood of the PT!

Last year I replaced the battery wiring harness on mine as the terminals were both corroded pretty badly. I picked one up off eBay for a decent price. It was a bit of a fiddly job since the harness is one piece containing both battery cables and the cables going to the fuse block and the starter. It's kinda like fighting with an octopus.
