Go home form work on Wednesday and a couple hours later went to go somewhere and my engine would turn over and not start.
Checked the timing belt and it's good, got code 0522 on my odb so I replaced my sensor and that went away. Battery was confirmed dead, replaced. Plugs and wires were due so I changed them as well along with an oil change. car still just turns over and occasionally the 0522 will pop up on my odb but it is not an always on thing. Any ideas? thanks! |

P0522 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Circuit Low Voltage
Possible causes Low oil level or motor mechanical fault Faulty Oil Pressure sensor Oil Pressure Sensor harness is open or shorted Oil Pressure Sensor circuit poor electrical connection I would suggest you check your oil pressure sensor wires. Make sure the wire is not shorting or open. The 2006 & 2007 PT Cruisers have many electrical problems. If that is okay then check your ground wires under the hood especially the ones going to the driver's side inside fender. On your starting issue I would suggest checking your fuel pressure. If that is okay then check your crankshaft sensor and wires. How many miles do you have on it? Last edited by ptcruisersteve; 07 Jun 2015 at 11:19 pm. |

Thanks Steve,
112K when I replaced the switch I also looked at the wiring and saw no heat damage. But the batteries died on my multimeter so can't check if there is a break until tomorrow. I should also add that the intermittent 0522 shows with the key dance but not torque or car doc pro. BUT i decided to bite the bullet and have it towed to the shop, can't afford another day of rental. I'll post back what the mechanic finds. I am suspecting low pressure in the fuel lines because I have a bad habit of running below 1/4 tank and it's finally taken it's toll on the pump. That or bad gas, fueled it up the morning of. Could a bad seal on the gas cap cause issues without throwing a code? Last edited by falconae; 08 Jun 2015 at 12:37 am. |

It was the fuel pump, it was giving gas just not enough pressure.
Thanks for the ideas! |

my cruiser died at a red light. Did the key dance and it keeps trowing up error codes 522 and 340 together. Replaced camshaft sensor and still the same thing. It sounds like it wants to turn over but won't. Now have a dead battery. PLEASE HELP.

P0340 - No Camshaft Sensor Signal
Possible Causes: 1. Intermittent Camshaft signal 2. 5v supply circuit open or is shorted to ground or to voltage 3. Camshaft sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to ground or to battery voltage or 5v supply circuit 4. Camshaft sensor ground circuit is open 5. 5v supply has failed 6. Camshaft sensor is damaged or has failed P0522 - Engine Oil Pressure sensor Rationality Possible Causes: 1. 5v supply circuit is open or is shorted to ground 2. Oil pressure sensor signal circuit is shorted to ground or to sensor ground 3. Oil pressure sensor is damaged or has failed 4. PCM has failed I would suggest you check the 5 volt line to see if it shorted to ground. Found out if it has any voltage on it. Check the 5 volt wires and physically see if its touching ground anywhere. What year is your PT Cruiser?
