Default Starter Switch? Location?

Hello, Newb here but not new to cars. I have an 03 GTPT and am having trouble with the ignition. I am presently using a jumper wire to the starter from the battery but its a pain when raining.

So far everything I have found using the search function hasn't helped.

Battery Good
Starter Good
Both fuses are good (underhood/inside)
No SKIM light when the key is ON.
Key FOB has a new batter and works (Grey Key)

Any help or insight on the starter switch would be great.

More information is needed to make a diagnosis.

Did the problem just pop up or was it intermittent?

Have you checked out the ignition switch?

Does the wire coming from the ignition switch have voltage on it?

Steve,

The car sat for a year and was fine when parked. The batter died and I replaced it. I'm not sure what you mean by checking the ignition switch. I have not tested power coming the from the switch if your referring to the switch in the column.

I would suggest you take a voltmeter and check to see if you have 12 volts coming from the ignition switch on the column to the starter.

Was the PT Cruiser parked outside? If so you might have had little critters eating at the wires underneath the PT Cruiser.

Never had a wire eating rodent problem myself but my friends sister lives out in the country and has always had problems with them. Latest victim is her motor home with $2500 in wiring repair costs so far.
