Okay so I have a standard 2003 pt cruiser. No Turbo. My car started idling and riding rough (vibrates, jerks, whole 9)....I flashed for codes and got the following:
P0300 P0351 P0352 P0481 I googled them and got to work. Since Wednesday I have replaced all spark plugs, wires, ignition coil, seals on the intake, ran some sea foam in the gas tank, checked all fluids (full and no leaks), and checked my gas cap. Check engine light goes off after each project...Runs smooth for a couple of miles and then bam-engine light is on, and we are in the same jerking boat again. Same codes. I'm pulling my hair out. Any ideas? |

I would suggest you check the ground wires at the PCM. All of the codes seems to indicate poor electrical connections.
Make sure you do a battery load test to make sure your voltage is not dropping causing the electronics to stop communicating. Make sure your battery cables are clean and making good contacts on both ends. Make sure the coil wires going to the PCM are not touching ground at any location. Check for continuity. When you start replacing parts make sure you put the old parts back in if its not the problem. If you don't then the more parts you replace the more problems you might be having if the new parts are bad. Last edited by ptcruisersteve; 28 Jun 2015 at 11:11 pm. |

Thanks for your quick reply, Steve. I will do what you recommended in the morning and let you know how it goes. I'm hoping and praying this fixes the problem (I've already dumped $450 into the car this week). *fingers crossed*

I would do this first. Make sure there are no breaks in the coil wire cable. Others have had breaks in the coil wire cable that causes P0351 & P0352. |

It would be a good idea what you have had done to the PT. May be related.

All wires around PCM are good.

Most likely it's on here somewhere?? But this looks pretty good:
Part 1 -How to Test the Cam Sensor (Chrysler 2.0L, 2.4L) You'll need a DVOM. ![]() |
