I can't make out what this problem could be.

I have an 07 PT Cruiser limited edition. Recently it's been giving me performance problems. For example when I'm driving it'll feel like the car is wanting to stall out like and I'm out of gas and it's running on fumes then as I let off on the accelerator it runs fine no problems until I give it gas again then it's back to feeling like it's going to stall out. But here's the weird part when I pull over to the side of the road shut the car completely off and turn it back on again and start driving there's no issue at all it drives just fine. Now I have an issue where I'll go somewhere shut the car off and when I come back get in and start the car it won't start it turns over and the engine fires and then shuts right back off I start it the engine fires and shuts right back off. then when I sit with The car off for 5 minutes I go to start it again and it starts right up like there's no problem at all and I just drive away and go home.Brand new fuel pump and new spark plugs.I was just wondering what this could be and if anybody has had this issue before.

Can you tell us why the fuel pump was replaced?
How long ago was the fuel pump replaced?
Was everything checked when the fuel tank was removed to replace the fuel pump?

The fuel pump was replaced on this vehicled because it went bad. This was before this issue. Everything was replaced and connected correctly. Since I've had this problem I've tested the fuel pump and the fuel pump is operating just fine.What I can't understand is why the vehicle would be running like I'm running out of gas and there's no power when I accelerate but when I shut the car off and start it up again it runs just fine like there's no problem. I've had TIPM issues with this vehicle and the dealer quoted me $1000

Fuel pump was replaced last year.

I would suggest first doing a battery load test. Make sure the battery is good. Check your battery cables and connectors. Make sure there is no voltage drop in the battery cables. Check all grounds including the ones going to the drivers fender. There will be a few ground wires going to the drivers fender so you need check underneath the wires connecting to the fender. Some members have found corrosion in the wires. The TIPM is sensitive to voltage drops so this is the first step in finding the problem.

I would suggest checking the wires going to the TPS. Follow the wires and check it with an ohm meter. Make sure the wire is making good contact with the TPS.

On my 2007 PT Cruiser I also had the issue where I had gone to home depot and had the same problem of starting the engine fires and shuts right back off. I disconnected the battery and reconnect the battery and I would be able to start the engine and go home. I replaced the battery and that problem went away. You might have bad ground problems with more issues.

Your engine light should be coming on with the issues you are having.

Thanks I'll try this. There is a bit of corrosion on my terminals so I'll take it over and have it tested out.

Bad battery terminal connections can cause all kinds of symptoms.
But, after you fix that and drive a while, be sure to check for codes, even if you just do the key dance.

I had similar issues, although not starting problems.
She would die/chug along when accel over 2,500 rpm.
And she did die once at a stop light.
Turned out to be the Crank Sensor.
I had both Crank and Cam sensors replaced.
No problems since.
