Exclamation p0712

P0712 Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor Circuit Low Input. Does it really matter? Shifts ok. Not sure how this will affect things.

Thanks

can't answer your question, but on our caravan that sensor cost $30 from the dealer.

Exclamation Re: p0712

Not running at the moment. Had it towed home. This is the code I am getting right now. P0172!!!! It turns over but no start. I am using the turn the key method to get this code. A while back I did use my friends scanner/ code reader and I recall something about fuel moduel I THINK the 172 was there at that time. As I was driving it it just started running very bad. Limped it to a safe spot and now I am clueless. Anybody know what the fuel pressure should be with key on engine off??

Thanks

Chris

P0712
or
P0172?

if it's 172 i'd ASSume it's related to the cam movement in your other thread. if it's off or opening too early it may be letting unburned fuel into the exhaust.

to answer your fuel pressure question, fuel pressure should be 58 +/- 5psi.
if you do a fuel pressure test, be sure to do the fuel pressure leakdown test as well. see how much pressure it has (engine off)after a minute, 3 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes. it should not drop much. if it does the injectors may be sticking open allowing extra fuel in, causing your code. it isn't as rare as you'e think.

If you suspect dirty injectors try some Berryman's B-12 CHEMTOOL fuel system cleaner. More cleaning ingredients Than Seafoam. Half the price. Can't hurt enem if you have something else going on.
