Default intake manifold

Has anyone found a company that makes a performance intake manifold for the PT?

No aftermarket manifolds that I know of, although back in 2001 there was a company doing R&D on one and asked for PT owners to volunteer their cars for testing prototypes. The owners got to keep the prototype for their trouble but it didn't go into production. Check out Mopar performance, http://www.mopartsracing.com/parts/pt.html , halfway down the page, and they list a new PT intake manifold, part #4510553. Don't know if the picture is correct, but if it is, then major changing of cables, hoses, etc are needed to make it work. Bob Stockum was buying PT Turbo manifolds and machining in the EGR holes so N/A PT's can take advantage of the less restrictive design. Might want to contact him, his contact information is at his website:

I followed a thread with Bob Stockum on a another forum - the turbo intake flows better. Bob was making a "kit" that would ease putting the turbo intake on a N/A engine. Very slight horsepower gain, said Bob, unless you changed Cams to make use of breathing.
A side benfit - you can get at the spark plugs!

Yep, I have installed 2 of them. 1 on mine & 1 on a friends. both are 01's.
We also had Bob bore out our TB's to match the mainfold's. Nice smooth transistion from tb to mainfold. Bob does great work

I have also modified my stock air box for larger opening (K&N drop-in). You can make your stock box work if you modify the top section. I have some pictures on PTE somewhere that show my engine compartment.

I'll have to dig up

If you installed a K&N FIPK for a N/A engine, the braket needs to be modified to work also... or you need to replace it w/ the turbo model.
That is because the TB is rerouted slightly & the hoese will not fit the same direction as before.

But worth the effort in my book. I "test" drove a base pt & them got back in mine... I really could feel the difference in the acceleration & shift pattern. [8)]

That Mopar manifold is only ceramic coating. I assume the inner surface of the manifold is smooth. I suppose you could bore it out, but unless you can change the shape or retrofit a SRT-4 manifold, then we're out of luck.

The ceramic coating should help to reduce heat on the input side...
