It's part of the gas pump located in the gas tank.

Are there any other in line fuel filters, or is the filter in tank the only one? Since filters clog over time.... when and how would one replace this fuel filter?[:I]

The fuel filter in the tank is the only one. Changing it out isn't all that much fun.

WITH THE NEW PLASTIC GAS TANKS, THE NEED FOR AN EXTERNAL FUEL FILTER IS NOT NECESSARY. I WORK AT A DODGE DEALER AND WHEN YOU LOOK INSIDE AN OLD GAS TANK, THEY ARE AS CLEAN AS A NEW ONE. JUST PERIODICALLY USE A GOOD FUEL INJECTION CLEANER AND YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

A shame that the question was never answered ..
Chevron receives good press from many
I am not certain that it is necessary .
Just having done a '97 Honda Accord fuel filter, I prefer the PT Cruiser design ..much better of course, is decent access as the ''better'' vehicles have .
BITOG .. its more than simply oil ..

as far as a fuel additive I like Sea Foam it seems to do as much or more than and of the others I also use Lucas pretty much all the time my PT has way over 200,000 and its the same fuel filter
one other thing do not let the tank get low all the time the fuel helps to Keep the fuel pump lubricated as well as cool so running it near empty is usually considered a BAD thing
