Default Cruise control stopped working

Using the cruise control all day, parked the car overnight and now no cruise control? It seemed fine no problems leading up to it quitting. Anyone out there experience this problem? I know that the c.c. doesn't have a lot of items that can fail but I have never touched one.
Any help is appreciated.

Here's a post that might help diagnose the problem.

Cruise control ?

I don't see a specific fuse for the CC on either the Gen1 or Gen2 models but I'm sure there's another fuse labeled for something else that supplies power. But I did find the wiring diagram for the GEN! cruiser where it says it's the Number #10 fuse for the CC. I'll post it when I print it out.

I would suggest checking the fuse #10 for the cruise control as Sanatanadharma posted.

Found the wiring diagram for the Cruse Control. It DOES use the number #10 fuse.

I am heading out to grab some fuses and start there. I wasn't sure if the cruise control had a fuse, so thanks for the info. I'm actually picking up my set of service manuals tomorrow.

WarEagle, this might sound like a simple "first echelon" suggestion but one that many mechanics ignore as they go about pullin' fuses, checkin' vacuum lines and rippin' out their hair.

I had the same symptoms, CC wise, after a "clown act" replaced SOOO BIG's timing belt. Of course they had to move the CC unit as they did the job the "easy" way by not droppin' the engine for access. When they buttoned it up they forgot to completely seat the electrical lead plug that's socketed into the side of the CC unit. Th CC unit itself is located towards the back of the top of the right strut tower mount. This plug will often appear to be seated but in fact it has a sliding lock to secure it.

W/O that plug seated and the sliding lock engaged your CC can give you all manner of adverse service. From non function, to surging speeds, to unpredictable, dangerous, increases in speeds from 10MPH and higher.

The cheapest and first thing to do is check that out. Good luck.

Happy PTin', ptprice

One other member had the Cruise control stop working with the cruise light coming on and found the speed control servo not working properly.

Cruise control stopped working

Is your engine light on? If so what are the codes?
