Default What is the oil pressure in a 04 PT cruiser

I mounted a oil gauge on the dash and got it all hooked up today and started the car up let it warm up and when I looked at it it was at a little over 25 psi point and when I revved the engine at 3,000 rpm the oil gauge showed at 75 psi. What do you guys think of the pressure the gauge don't show numbers by every tens. I think the gauge was tell me about 30-35 oil psi I'm not sure exactly. Sorry

Without any details of the engine, mileage or what oil you used it's very hard to give you an answer.

The reason I'm asking for is because there is a soft tapping in the engine so I was going to replace the lifters and someone told me that I should check the oil pressure before replacing the lifters, they said if I had low oil pressure and changed the lifters I'll still have the same problem. That's why I'm asking. But why does the gauge say between 38-41 about at idle when warm when the book says 4 psi?? I'm confuse about that is there something I did wrong or use the wrong oil or something?

The oil pumps used on the 2.4 were complete over kill. Because it is a very close machined oil pump assembly low rpm oil pressure is common.
In fact they will produce so much oil pressure that if you sustain a high RPM over a short period of time you can effectively* drain the sump and have all your oil in the head valve cover are. But don't worry only a few PT Driver would ever experience that. lol
*Chrysler saw this as a problem and did a general fix of a small plastic restrictor year ago placed in the block during assembly.
*See also DCR website.

Imo if you are hearing the HLA (hydraulic lash adjusters) it may be more from oil varnish on the lifter itself or the lifter bore from lack of a good oil/filter maintenance schedule over the life of the engine . Try some Marvel Myster oil before the next oil change and add it as part of the oil at the next oil/filter change.

Dang I had no idea any body else used Marvel Mystery Oil and to be honest I have no idea what its supposed to do but what I do know is and this(and I am not trying to start a discussion) I add 1 quart of Mystery oil and 1 quart of Lucas and 3 quarts oil and a use a wix oil filter every month on my dd it make me feel good it must be ok as most of my rides have way over 100,000 and some over 200,000 so for ME it worksI have opened up a few of my motors and while they are not sparlely clean there are very few globs of think burnt oil or whatever that stuff is

I hate feeling like an "old Timer" but I have been using Marvel Mystery oil for years on so many project not only car related.
I am sure Gold2006 may have a different opinion and even some technical information about it and maybe some better Amzoil Products that might work in its place. Never the less I will still use my MMO for many project.
