Default Additives ?

The Car has 67k miles on her. She has a few issues like most, but I was wondering what your thoughts are about adding additives, like ZMax transmission fluid etc.

I recommend to do a standard filter and fluid change. Get a NEW transmission pan from doorman that has a drain plug. Then use only* recommended fluid replacement. Keep to a schedule and do the next change at between 12 and 24,ooo miles. Or definitely at your 100k complete service millage.

The only enemy with w PT Cruiser ATX is neglect of basic servicing.

As for additives I suggest to talk to * Gold2006.
He will be on shortly to respond.

. As a retired Shell Oil chemist and current AMSOIL Direct Jobber, I, transmission oil, and OEM manufacturers discourage use of additives which will void their warranties if the cause of failure. Use a top of the line transmission fluid that meets OEM standards. Mine, of course, is AMSOIL after using the AMSOIL Transmission Flush and a new filter. If you provide the 8th character of your VIN, I can be more specific.

Thanks Gold2006 for the info. The car has 67k miles now, I had the filter and fluid (ATF6) changed at 61k. Gasket was $9.14, ATF6 (5qts) was $44.75, Remove and Replace Labor was $95.00, Shop supplies was $14.95 Total, w/tax was $173.72. Vin # is 3C3JY45XX7T585228 ,and I still have a slight 'thump' noise when the car down shifts into first.

When did you notice the "thump?". By ATF6, do you mean GM DEXRON 6? If so that is the wrong fluid. It is a low viscosity ATF and may be the reason for the "thump". Your car requires CHRYSLER ATF + 4 and the correct AMSOIL ATF is listed below. Also it takes 8.6 quarts for a total fill, at least 10 quarts for a complete flush. Hope this helps.
