Default unusual tensioner question, with video

04 I put the tang in the arm notch, tighten the bolt, and the setting notch can't turn to align with the tang. Here's a quick video: https://youtu.be/PZiwabsItzw

Must be missing some spacer, did you compare it to the one you removed?

I can't figure out how the tensioner works? I turned the inner part after semi bolting it on, and the setting notch is now below the notch on the arm. Should I install the timing belt? And then just crank the allen wrench, that would move the setting notch enough to where I could tighten the bolt, setting the belt?

I watched a video of 7 parts how to install a pt timing belt, this was shown during the 6th part at the end, 5:30, https://youtu.be/msat8GMAyso

I have put it on before, the tensioner doesn't torque, did I have it mis-aligned to start, and so the metal notches were in conflict? Should I just try try again?

I haven't done this, so don't take my word for it. It looks to me like you need to just snug the center bolt on the tensioner, and then use your 1/4" drive ratchet to rotate the inner portion of it clockwise until the spring contacts the deep notch. Then, rotate the engine crank two revolutions, check your marks and make the final adjustment. BUT, like I said, I've not done one of these and am NOT an ASE certified mechanic. I'm not even a mechanic.
