Default Problems with battery leakage

So my girlfriends 2001 pt cruiser has been having problems with something overcharging the battery. I know my way around a car a little bit and originally thought it was the alternator. I replaced that twice thinking that the first alternator may have been faulty because it happens. After replacing it a second time I still had the same issue. I took it in to the local shop and they told me that the PCM was bad so I got a new one and replaced that and I am still having the same problem. The error code that it reads is P0622 and P1684. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this because I'm running out of ideas myself

P0622 - Generator Field Control Circuit Malfunction Conditions:

Possible Causes:

1. Generator field control circuit is open or is shorted to ground
2. Generator field control circuit is shorted to system power (B+)
3. Generator field ground circuit is open
4. Generator is damaged
5. PCM has failed

I would suggest checking to see if you have a short in the F terminal control wire. They run from the ECU to the alternator in a wire loom above the CV axle and below the exhaust. The wires can rub on the inner CV axle boot and be rubbed all the way through the loom and wire. Other members have had this problem when a clip breaks dropping the F terminal control wire harness on the inner CV axle boot.

If the wiring is okay how are you checking to verify the new alternator is charging before installing it in your PT Cruiser? is the new alternator a rebuild?
