I purchased a used 2005 Pt Cruiser Touring edition it's a 2.4L automatic so far I've replaced the following : Radiator.. Thermostat... Water Pump.. And timing belt radiator cap and it is still overheating more so uphill we've all bled the air out numerous times and had a friend test the overflow with a tool that tells you if you had a cracked block or blown gasket also exhaust leak please any and all help would be appreciated

Did you do a coolant system flush? Perhaps the heater core is plugged. Try bypassing it and see if it runs cooler. Or possibly the cooling fans are not working properly. Have you checked them? Maybe it's not really running hot, you just have a defective coolant temp sensor. IDK, just throwing some things out there for you to check.

Do you need to add coolant? Are you loosing coolant? How high does the gauge go?
Bleeding air multiple times tells me that you are pumping air into the system (bad head gasket) or not recovering coolant from the over flow container (leaking hose)
Does it overheat idling in traffic?

I would suggest getting an infrared thermometer and check the difference between the upper radiator hose and the lower radiator hose after you have confirmed the thermostat is open. Verify what the temperature gauge is reading is correct. Post what you find.

Why did you replace all those parts in the first place?

How are you determine that it is running hotter than normal?
At what RPM does it indicate running hotter?
What is the elevation is the area of operation?

What tool was used to check the cooing system? If it was a pressure tester than that only helps find leaks and does not test for exhaust contaminates in the cooling system .

The need to bleed the cooling system on a PT Cruiser USA model after 2003 during a coolant or cooling system part change is only needed one time at the initial fluid replacement.

Did you check and or change the coolant temperature sensor?
What brand and temperature degree thermostat did you choose?
What brand radiator cap and cap psi did you choose?
What brand water pump did you choose and what was the part number?

It isnt so much while its idling ...the gauge fluctuates and teeter totters between the middle and then gradually goes up .... when i first got it .... it overheated and come to find out there was no water in it

Wow those are overwhelming questions lol me not being a car person prior to this car i have learned a bit about it .... my location is Placerville, Ca about an hour from Lincoln.....Replaced the parts because the radiator had some rust ....and putting that in didnt help with the overheating so just went on down the line to see if certain things would eleviate the problem ....let me find out the part numbers and all is there a specific thermostat and radiator cap that i should be using ?

The questions help to rule things out and more importantly get a better idea of the problem and possible causes. Most of the questions can reduce a lot of back and forth Q&A that only tends at times to "muddle" helping people.
