Wow, I would definitely like to do that. Does it hurt the engine at all?

Taylormade,
Removing the air silencers will not hurt the engine at all. Less restrictive airflow will actually allow it to run better. Don't worry, it costs nothing so you have nothing to lose. Mean Green's idea about cutting the snorkel flush with the box will work even better than taping up the holes I would imagine. You'll have peace of mind knowing you did whatever you could to make the stock airbox perform better. Also get a K&N drop in if you don't have one. I don't have one yet on my PT (next week I will) but I had them on my three previous cars. Can't think of a better $30.00 mod you can do. |

What about on N/A PT's? will cutting the snorkel flush with the inside of the box help at all, or better than removing the entire piece?

I tried looking at the airbox, (by the way, its an n/a cruiser) opened it, and saw a big white plastic thing in the corner. Is that what needs to be removed? and what does the clamshell look like? (I dont know anything about engine maintenance and stuff)
And what about resetting the pcm? i know this has been talked about time and again, but i never found a solid answer

nevermind that first paragraph. I just browsed through a couple forums, and looked at gary04gt's explanations, and did it. Everyone congratulate me on my first mod as the owner of my cruiser!
But what is this about taping holes up? which holes do i need to tape up?

Street racing?..........
I cant say we have gone out looking for it, but on occasion if something pulls next to us at a light or on the road all fast and furious like, then the GT gets a little taste . Its pretty cool to be able to hang with Mustangs and whoop up on most punk kids with an unsuspecting wagon! [8)]
