Default Radiator Condenser Cooling Fan ?

I'm replacing the Fan Module, and found out that there is a 3 prong and a 4 prong. Why are there 2 different types for Mopar 5179470AA? Is there anyway I can tell what I have before I take things apart and order the wrong Fan? I have a back brace, and can't get under the car to take apart mine. The car is a non turbo 07. Thanks!

The 4 pin version is for fans that have the relays attached to the fan assembly itself while the 3 pin version has the fan relays that are not part of the fan assembly. If you look on the passenger side of your fan housing, if you see 2 relay blocks, then you should buy the 4 pin version which would look like this. The relays are on the top side of the fan. Here are pictures from the Rock Auto selection. 4 pin connector with relays:

3 pin connectors with relays located elsewhere in the engine compartment (I think they are closer to the firewall)

FWIW, my 2009 non-turbo (second generation) has a 4 pin. You can see that the 4 pin fan assembly here also has a 3 pin connector. The 3 pin connectors connect to each other and the 4 pin connector is the only one you need to actually take out to remove the fan.

Maybe it's none of my business (apologies ahead of time) but if you have a back brace and can't look yourself, how do you intend to replace it?

Thanks very much for your help. I do have 2 blocks so I have the 4 prong. My Brother in Law is going to do the job for me.

Not so fast!
My 06 has the fan relays on the shroud, just like your photo, I just got under the car and have the 3 prong connector.
I put ground and power to one side (ground is middle) and the fan works, ground and power on the other side and the fan does not work.
I overheat at idle, ergo, I need a new fan.

Am having a horrible time trying to find a fan with the 3 prong.

Searched Mopar by VIN and they have the correct number, but are double the price of the others.

What a pain!!

One more thing.
In your photo the connector going direct to the fan appears to be the 3 prong??
Could this be correct?

AHA.
I'm getting to the bottom of it now.
Its a 4 prong plug that supplies power to the relays for the fan, and the fan, which in some cases, as mine, has a 3 prong plug that supplies power to the fan motor.
Good to have this solved.
I should be able to order any of the fans on ebay that have the relays on the fan shroud, as mine does.

The relays are another issue entirely.
Looks like the dealer for those.......

You don't show your location, but Autozone carries the relays @$20 each. Make sure your relays are bad before replacing them or you're spending money needlessly. Rock Auto tends to have very good prices on fan assemblies and many have very good guarantees.
