Default Can I remove a/c condensor if not using a/c?

I have some kind of over-heating problem with my 2005 Cruiser. Have replaced radiator cap, thermostat, radiator fan on Mechanic's advice (including dealer mechanic) Still overheats. I'm thinking that if I remove the a/c consensor, and leave it off (since im not using a/c system) that it might help to solve the over-heating problem.

Can I operate the car without the a/c condenser attached?

Any thoughts?

Are you losing coolant? Has the system been pressure tested? Not normal for a PT to overheat assuming everything is fine so you need to find out what is not fine.

I don't see why you need it if you "never use your A/C" but I doubt it will solve your problem. There has to be something wrong with your car beyond the condenser blocking your rad. I have driven my PT with a leaking radiator and some sketchy part time fixes and it doesn't run hot. If it has coolant and the fan is working, you should start looking at other potential problems.

If you're not running your A/C (and, remember, if you are set to defrost - selector set to windshield picture - the A/C will come on) then why do you think removing the condensor will help with overheating?

Could be a gunked up water jacket, might need a good power flush of the engine block. Hopefully, your water pump is optimally operational.

Another issue may be that one day down the road you may want/need to sell the car and having the condenser gone would not be a good selling point. Or you may find the real problem, fix it, and then discover that the A/C isn't so bad after all and you would have to go through all the hassle and cost of putting it back in.

For what it's worth.
