Default 2007 Cruiser Battery Light

OK, so my wife's Cruiser overheated, bad, and the alternator/battery light came on. So I fixed the overheating issue (new fan), and replaced the alternator. However the battery light is still on. I've checked all the fuses (good) Using my multimeter on the battery, I've got 11.65v across the terminals. From the bolt-on-line from the alternator to ground I have 0v.

Thoughts? Could it be the "fusible link"? Im at a loss here...

Thanks in advance for any input

Neil

Welcome to the forum.

Why was the original generator(Alternator) replaced? Is the replacement generator a rebuilt, re manufactured or a new generator?

The first thing I would have done is have a battery load test done. This would have told you if your battery is bad and if there is a problem with the charging system. The battery fully charged before taking it in and making sure the load test is set up for the amps the battery is designed for.

What was the battery voltage with the engine running before replacing the generator?

Hi!

Thank you for the reply. The battery is brand new, I replaced that as well. Sorry I didn't mention it. I'm afraid I did not check any readings BEFORE I replaced the original alternator, as I foolishly thought this would be a simple "swap-out", as it had been so many times before on other cars. The alternator came from a junkyard, I know, not the best choice but I was working under an extremely tight budget. Also I was thinking the issue is NOT the alternator as the voltage reading at the alternator is zero. Power NOT getting to alternator from battery?

This is a diagram of 2006 charging system. There are 2 fuse links going to the generator. You will need to double check that the 2006 charging diagram is not different from the 2007 PT Cruiser that you have.
