[B)]Wow King, I could see how you'd be a bit bent on that one. I missed something, Is that front and back for $481? I hope that all the way around. I thought just the front wore out that fast. I had mine looked at the other day with only 13,500 on it they said the front pads were half way their. So sounds like I can only expect about the same amount of miles before mine go. I wonder how long the cermanic last?

I don't know what's wrong with me, but I have 52k with lots of pad left and no rotor warpage. But when the time comes, the dealer (or DC parts) will not be selected.

Stephen, What kind of driving do you mostly do. Is it Highway miles, or city? I'll like to get that kind of miles. I have on other cars.[8D]

Combo city/highway. Have a 5-speed, but also "go deep" once and awhile and let the 18s work. Sounds crazy, but there's nothing really wrong with my particular brakes. No squeals, only the usual dusting. Just watch; I'll take it in at 60K and hear otherwise.

Thanks; That's good. It must be the fact that it's a five speed help's slow that puppy down. Maybe the 18's heelp to.
This is the first automatic I've owned, it's scary because before I only worried about the tramission wearing out sooner than a manuel, now I have to consider the breaks. I guss that's the breaks for geting lazy an going with a automatic. But I must say it's a nice change not having to down shifting in trafic. I do mostly around town driving and in the jeep I had before it wasn't happy unless it was going 50 on the highway in 4th. Seemed like every one was in the way when I had a 4.2 engin. Now the tables have turned. I can set the Pt to cruise at 25-30 and don't have to think about it. I'm just cruszin now. [8D]Pros and cons for everything. |

My local speed shop doesn't mind if I get specialized aftermarket parts drop-shipped to them and they do the install, as long as I talk with them about it first... sometimes they can get a better deal on parts thru their channels, sometimes they can't (and for PTC specialty items, they usually can't). Of course I pay a premium shop rate for this kind of service... but still less than what the dealer would charge me. And with far fewer hassles. They guarantee the labor (ie: they do the job right, or they will do it over); the Parts Manufacturer provides warrantee on the parts... my risk is if the parts I bought turn out NG, I am hosed on the labor for the unistall/reinstall, so this only makes sense for parts of the highest quality.

They are required to return your parts if you ask. I would get the rotors and then take them to a good auto parts store that turns rotors. They will measure them for you and tell you if they can be turned. If they can, have it done (usually about $5.00 per rotor) and save them for the next time.
