Question 08' Firewall. How to go through?

Hello there PT Cruiser's owners and fans! How are you? My name is Ryan and this is my first post. I'm looking for some help, and contribute with what i know here in the forum!

I just installed this led kit in my 08 non-turbo model tonight.
"OPT7 Aura Smart-Color LED Strip Interior Lighting Kit (4 Items)"

I have several power options:
- Connect it to the relay box (I want this one)
- Connect it the power outlet
- Connect it to an energy wire wich I dont wanna do it.

Is there a safe way to get a wire from under the steering wheel to the fuse box under the hood through the firewall?

I'm not afraid of making a hole if necessary.

Thanks!

Hello Ryan and welcome to the forum.

The best way to run power wires through the firewall is to find the hood release cable up under the drivers side and tape the tip of your wire to a thin stick , coat hanger, broken umbrella wire etc and push it up into the engine compartment using the same hole for the hood release cable.

I've done it a number of times for various projects to get power.

Good Luck
Dan

I would suggest being very careful of attaching another wire to any of the circuits on the TIPM. The TIPM is very expensive to replace.

wouldn't his best move be to tap into the cigarette lighter wiring? Much easier, it is fused, and it is also called "the accessory receptacle". Unlikely his led's will draw enough to blow the fuse.

Like Steve points out, stay away from the TIPPM
