Default Hi!! VIBRATTTIIOONNSS

Hi guys I'm new here!

Just bought a pt cruiser 2.2 diesel with the merc engine for a bargain! But.... the car drives smooth and is very quick when driving however when standing still or when foot on the clutch the steering wheel and general engine area vibrates (like one of them vibration machines)

I can just ignore it, but just need to know it's safe and not buggered haha

Thanks guys, just had a full service by the way.

Check your motor mounts especially the upper and lower torque struts if they are the same as the 2.4 engine. If you keep driving it you might damage the other motor mounts if some of them needs replacing.

You will need some tools including a floor jack to align the motor mounts.

Hi Everyone!

Im from Yorkshire, England!

I will upload some pictures after my clean tonight

So i know you cant diagnose it from over there, but is it likely to mean my car is scrap? It only vibrates when either im stationary or foot on the clutch( so basically when the engine is at idle)

Thank you i will check the engine mounts out tonight though. Just worried i bought a lemon!

NO, it does NOT mean the car is scrap. All it means is that you have the same problem that a lot of us "Yanks" have too. Motor mounts wear out and can cause EXTREME engine and drive train vibrations. Check them and get back to us. My son was in England a few years ago and LOVED it there. I don't think he got to Yorkshire, but I'll ask him.
