Smile PT Stalling

Well here is what I did or had done to my PT to stop the PITA stalling. Cleaned all the grounds and every connector I could get at, even the one on the trans, HINT, take the air box out and everything below it and there it is!! After all that finally gave up and took it to a shop. They couldn't find anything at first, then I told them to take it for a long ride, 1 hour or more, BINGO, it let them sitting in heavy traffic, told them that would happen. Got it back to the shop, new CPS and coil and it works like a new one. Long story short, hope this info helps those that have the same problem. Coil stands to reason, sits on top of the oven (motor), HOT HOT HOT!!

I would have replaced one part at a time! Did they try the CPS first?

ya...
I am not really convinced that the shop really did the best diagnostic's. If it had been a coil pack problem in most all cases there would have been at least one or more DTC's indicating a few ignition cautions.

The Coil pack is in the same position not only on the 2.4 but 1.6 and the cause of failure due to heat is very very very very very very very...low.

The heat is not what many think when actually measured with a tool cabible of doing so.
The coil is not a fluid cooled coil like the past pre say 90's all the back into the 50's.
