Question WHAT SHOULD COMPRESSION BE

Hello everyone, I just purchased a 2005 PT Cruiser Convertible Touring Edition turbo, I know the turbo is bad but I want to run a compression test just to double check for any other problems, what should the 2.4 turbo compression be?

I'll let someone with more knowledge of that chime in as I've seen numbers from 105psi to 180psi which all depends on the ware and tear of the internals. Whatever you come up with, all for cylinders should be within +- 10% of each other. If one is low then you have a problem.

This should be taken with the engine cold and the TB wide open. You need to also make sure that the same engine rotation count 4 or five is done on each cylinder when checking the compression. Then you compare the results. The highest cylinder would be your guide and all other should not be more then about 10%max.

Did you do the maximum five count cycle on all cylinders?
NitroPT and chuzz like this.
