Default 2008 Ignition switch actuator

Change the whole steering column? Nah ahh. Prowl the junkyards. Really? Can anybody offer light on this? Not sure yet as I have not gotten my column apart but I like to do my homework before I tackle anything like this as I do not like walking. My 2008 needs either a new ignition switch or a actuator (Not available) Except Dorman has a 924-704 that fits up to a 2006. Okay, will it fit my 2008? I cannot understand why Chrysler would change a part like this on a new model facelift design for the 2007 and up body style. But what do I know, the parts guys say they did! I know that the original was supposedly a plastic rod, the new Dorman looks to be magnesium, mine appears to have been upgraded to magnesium for apparent reasons. So anybody? Its almost at the end of its travel and not working. Could the magnesium rod have worn the area where it goes in and I need the switch not the actuator? Help!

Its one part on th 06 and up.
You need the 5 point security star torx tool to remove the key cylinder housing.
Much easier than whole column.

Ahhh! Ok cool. So just change the switch. I have the security bits. Was doing some research. Im gonna go to Napa and get the switch in the am. 85 degrees today. Almost didnt catch. Took 3 times. Seems worse on hot interior days even though I leave the windows cracked. Thank you for your help!
