Default PT Cruiser vs Neon Parts Compatibility

I found this information critical to customizing my PT and finding the appropriate parts. I thought it a good idea to provide this post here as well. I've seen others asking questions about this as well.

Details from a member on srtconnection.

This thread is for performance wise parts. There are a lot of exterior mods you can do to the PT but im not listing them.

What parts fit my PT Turbo from the Neon SRT-4

Exhaust:
SRT-4 3in downpipe (welding an extension needed)
SRT-4 3in O2 housing
SRT-4 3in downpipe with E-cutout (welding an extension needed)
SRT-4 3in Side exit Exhaust
The PT does have its own downpipe with cutout
NeedsWings Performance Products

Engine:
If you’re a 2003 you came with 527cc purple injectors, 2004 and up have 577cc injectors, Mopar S2/S3 682cc injectors and RC injectors will fit also
SRT-4 lower hardpipe (not upper)
SRT-4 BOP
Mopar/AGP/Forge BOV
SRT-4 WGA (AGP, Kinetic, Mopar S2)
Check valve
DSP (if you have an ATX you will need a S1 PCM also)
SRT-4 180 and 160deg T-Stat
Spark plugs (suggested NGK 4306)
spark plug wires
SRT-4 Coil pack heat shield
SRT-4 Msd and granatelli coilpacks
SRT-4 BT dress up caps
SRT-4 internal parts (belts, rods, pistons, tensioner, pumps, gaskets, ect)
SRT-4 big turbo kits
SRT-4 Solid motor mounts (except tranny) (inserts are cheaper$$)
Aeroforce Interceptor Scan Guage
All can be found at: Modern Performance
Light weight Battery kit
http://jmbperformance.com/store/prod...products_id=30
DCR oil modifier http://www.dcrsrt.com/index.php?act=...d&productId=23

Suspension:
Mopar 26mm Sway bar (cheapest)
Any aftermarket SRT-4 front swaybar
SRT-4 Energy suspension sway bar bushing and end links
Tokico front struts and Koni front inserts
Any aftermarket front SRT-4 coil spring
Any aftermarket front SRT-4 coilover

Incase of replacement:
Stock front struts
Stock front control arms
Stock spindles
stock wheel bearnings
stock hubs
Stock F/R calipers
stock front sway bar
Stock motor mounts

Brakes:
SRT-4 F/R rotors (Drilled/Slotted)
SRT-4 F/R brake pads
SRT-4 BBK
Can be found at: Modern Performance
SRT-4 Front Steel braded brake lines (you’ll have to find front only or buy a set and sell the rear)

Seats:
The viper seats will fit in the PT but you will sit high it is suggested you trim about 1-2 inches off the bottom of the seat.

What else can I get for my PT

Throttle bodies are different from the SRT-4 and wont fit

Stage 1 PCM

Air Intake and catback exhausts
raceandstreet.net

Airbox to turbo pipe (intake) and Airbox mod (best mod)
NeedsWings Performance Products

APC Non-turbo strut bar (requires modification to the solenoid bracket to fit)
raceandstreet.net

Turbo version strut bar
raceandstreet.net

Rear swaybar
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...on/7657D6.html

upper hardpipe (if you want a bov mounted on it I would suggest buying the bov and having a local exhaust or performance shop weld on the flange)
NeedsWings Performance Products

another place for upper hard upipe with bov options as well as turbo to airbox pipes for cheaper

AGP use to make an Intercooler for the PT but stopped years ago.
no one currently makes an IC for us. if you want one it will have to be custom made.

If you want to pick up where I left off and make a custom IC that no one has. Buy an 18x12x3 - 2.5 in/out IC http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant...gory_Code=INCO
You will need two 90 deg bend 2.5" Aluminum pipe and two 90 deg 2.5" couplers
Intercooler Pipe Fabrication
You will need to remove the stock crash bar and will need to trim the metal below the holes next to the IC so you can fit the 2.5" pipe on both sides.

It should also be noted, thought it wasn't explicitly stated in your post that it could be done, PTs won't be able to make us of an SRT4 strut tower brace. While you ARE able to use the front struts/coilovers from an SRT4, the 'top hat' of the strut/coilover containing the studs is secured the 180* out between the applications. The "third" stud on the SRT4 is placed nearest to the fender, while the PT is placed nearest to the center of the engine bay.

For reference, PT:

Very helpful input. Thanks for the details.

With that in mind, a strut bar made for the SRT4 with only 2 bolt holes, might fit. Here's an example of this type of bar.

As 'HANDY" said over on Pippov's recent strut bar thread ----- "The Neon SRT4 bar will not work, the intake on the PT engine is in the way".
