Default ECT sensor

I am trying to change the ECT sensor in my 06 pt cruiser. The car is over heating in stop and go traffic, but runs fine as long as there is wind blowing into the radiator. The fan is not running when the car gets hot. The fan does run when the AC is on, I have rep[laced the fan, and checked the relays. Anyway, I know where it is, and have researched how to get to it, but all I can find is things like "its hard to get to, but you can do it". My question is, do I need to Remove the whole radiator fill assembly, is there a special tool I can use to get to it? No matter how hard I try, I can not get a wrench in there as it is butted right up against the radiator fill neck. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just ran out and looked at mine. The service manual doesn't really say how to get to it. If I were you, I'd remove the 4 bolts holding the power steering fluid reservoir so that you can move the hose out of the way a little bit better. I'm assuming that you're talking about the coolant temperature sensor. You might need some extensions and swivels.

Take the top radiator brace off and things became simpler.
