Default Another wont start problem ugh

Ok so after many months car being at the shop because of the machine shop didn't know their rear from a hole in the ground. We finally got it back together. Started up ran great. Shut it off and started right back up. Shut off again and jacked up rear end to weld exhaust. Started again with rear end in the air just fine. Gave it gas, it died, and now doesn't want to even try to fire. Gave a cam sensor code and replaced it. Not the issue. Has fuel pressure (not sure how much though) and has spark. Tired of this thing sitting

Welcome to the forum.

Have you reset the DTC's and tried starting it again?

What was the actual code when you replaced the camshaft sensor?

What was it in the machine for?

Hi Steve thanks for the welcome. No I don't believe we rest the tdc. I don't remember what the code was for the can shaft. I'll have to ask my buddy that was helping me. And it was in for a head gasket job.

I'm wondering if when I changed the oil that I may have knocked the crank sensor wiring harness loose when chaning the the oil filter

So, what year model, turbo or not and automatic or not? The reason I ask about the year is because if it's 01 or 02, there's a possibility of a wire harness clip breaking and rubbing on the passenger side axle. Kind of weird that it started fine until you started welding though. Maybe your ground blew a fuse somewhere. I'd check all of the fuses in the fuse boxes, starting under the hood with the IOD fuse. Did you have your welder grounded to the car somewhere?

I would suggest you get your own OBDII Scan Tool. The scan tool is a basic need tool when you start working on a problem with your PT Cruiser that has the engine light on.

The OBDII Scan Tools are very reasonable at Harbor Freight.

You need to reset the engine trouble codes, try starting it again, and see if you can get a code.

You could get your own spark tester to check for spark.

It's an 01 auto non turbo. The welder was grounded on the Exhaust but not in use when I started it. It ran fine that time to in till I gave it has then it died.

As for the ob2 reader I have one. I just moved 2 hours away from where the car is being worked on.

P0340 - No Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Failure

Possible Causes:
1. Camshaft Position Sensor connector is damaged, open or it is shorted
2/ Camshaft Position Sensor signal circuit is open or shorted
3. Camshaft Position Sensor 5 volt supply circuit is open or shorted to ground
4. Camshaft Position Sensor is damaged or has failed
5. Crankshaft Position Sensor is damaged or has failed
6. PCM has failed

I would verify you do have a spark if you are still getting P0340. Reset the engine trouble codes and try starting it again. Post what codes are triggered.

I would suggest if the wiring going to the camshaft sensor is good to check the crankshaft sensor and the wiring going to it. If the cam/crank timing falls too far out of the expected angle when the PCM compares it to the crank angle, it may trigger P0340.
