Since delivery of my GT, I've been looking for three things - a free flow intake, a freer flowing exhaust and a strut tower brace. So far, no vendor has indicated they have anything for the GT.
I've driven a sequential (2 turbos) turbo'd RX-7 for some 10 years now. While not an expert, do have some experience. As noted, the more air you can flow through the system, the more power you make, and being able to move the hot gasses out of the engine, the better for it. Up to a point. That point is dictated by how much gas flow the ECU will provide. You can get to a point where you have so much air and so little gas, you lean out and grenade the engine. I'm not familiar at all with this 2.4l engine, so can't comment on where that point might be. However, can't help but believe that opening the intake coupled with a freer flowing cat-back won't approach it. As long as the cats are in, plenty of margin, IMHO. Jumpin' Joe Onyx Green GT |

Have the K&N drop in in my 01 LE and the Mopar Perf. exhaust. Felt better once the computer figured out what to do. Don't think the exhaust will work on the turbo but the K&N will, same one. Don't forget the stock exhaust on the turbo is different than the normal PT's... Oh, have seen the K&N for $29

TURBOMANGT, I did no engine mods to our PT. It's my wife's daily driver and I just upgraded the exterior and made the interior more comfortable and pleasing to look at. My opinions in this forum are based on 28 years as a professional mechanic and playing at home in the garage. Chrysler designed the Turbo as a complete system. Opening up the intake will give you a little more top end and a lot more noise. Noise is good when you're young, I miss the stock sound of a 440 sixpack. The only reason Chrysler limited the intake was to reduce turbo whine out the air cleaner. Changing the exhaust will effect the power curve. Headers and duals reduce back pressure thus raising the RPM for horsepower and raising and NARROWING the torque band. Chrysler chose to set back pressure for a maxium power range for daily commuting. Changing the muffler will help the exhaust "talk" more but not really effect back pressure because the stock muffler ain't tiny! Compare it physically to anything you replace it with. I got kind of long here but you're not getting much more out of the engine other than some music, but music ain't bad! As long as I'm rattling, I'll be unfriendly and say anyone who tries to NOX a turbo is a complete idiot. It's already making almost 1.5 hp per cubic inch, forcing much more out is kissing 7/70 good bye. Be happy with it! If we could have had a factory 700hp 440 with 7/70, a lot more of us would be dead now.

I just got my new PT turbo over the weekend and I am already jonesin' to start adding performance parts. I am used to my mustang (traded it in!) where you can't step off a curb without tripping over an aftermarket performance parts supplier. Any guidance would be appreciated.
