Im confused.

I've been looking for an exhaust too.
But money keeps holding me back for a long time.
Now with my accident, money is really slim.

I have wanted to find something in the 250 range installed.
So the idea is too keep everthing but the last part of the exhaust piping right?

What is the setup that some are using. If I could find more info I could get my butt into the muffler shop to set this up and get my true flow.

I already have intake and new plugs & wires plus a special mod to the intake box thanks to a Mr. Tee. I have noticed a difference after putting my old box back in. It runs nice but looses some clean runs because of the resricted exhaust.
King, here is the Heartthrob and the single is under $250. I have it on my GT and love it. It is a 2 1/2" catback flow through exhaust.

Mean Green,
Hey, thanks for the info. I try to keep in mind every exhaust that comes to everyones mind in my own mind, if that makes sense.

Anyways Im looking at a little more Racey not Ricey look. Plus some decent sound. Or maybe if I could get one for the right price, I want to get a dual into a quad tip exhaust. Plus I would fit in more with my other club buddys. One of the best cars in the club has a dual exhaust setup in to 15" Chevelle pipes at 3" out. They look darn good.

Anyone have the MagnaFlow Catback system on their PT? (part #15680) They have them on ebay right now for $380 shipped, including a hi-flow cat. They are 2.25in stainless steel. I was wondering if a 2.25in stainless system would even be worth installing on the car? I have a 2001 Limited. I do realize most/all the restriction of the stock exhaust is in the muffler, but would the magnaflow system be worth the money, for more reasons other then that fact that its stainless?

Thanks,
Matt

With the horsepower the NA is producing, a 2 1/4" exhaust is not a detriment.

So you are basically saying its not really worth the extra money to get a 2.5 inch exhuast like the BTG? Becuase either way, the cruiser wont make much more HP.

Thanks,
Matt

The BTG is a 2 1/4" exhaust. The performance improvements they get is from the flow through muffler and the mandrel bends rather than an increase in interior dimensions.

Reducing noise is a high design priority for most car manufacturers. Eliminating drone is a big part of that. For those that want a little more power and more noise, the aftermarket exhaust is a good way to go. It will allow the engine to make some additional power, just don't expect miracles. A good flow-through 2 1/2" exhaust may make a slight difference (but not much) from a good flow-through 2 1/4" exhaust when you are turning out less than 200 hp. You just aren't moving that much air.

I wouldn't bother with a ignition system, the stock one is fine. It might make a slight difference, but you won't notice it at all. Intake really won't make all that much of a difference either, couple hp is probally all you'll get.

But a intake and ignition really won't "wake it up".

It's a shame these cars don't have a really good aftermarket. You're very limited on the performance end.
