Angry Help needed starting/ charging issues

Good morning,
I'm having an issue with my 06 cruiser. I can't figure out what the issue is. So I come to you for advise. From time to time. When I open the door all the light come on like they are supposed to, put the key in the ignition. The car dings to let me know they key is in. First click radio comes on windows go up and down like nothing's wrong. As soon as I roll the key forward to engage the starter. The car dies like you turned off a light switch. The alternator tests good and I have a brand new battery. If I put a charger on the battery give it the extra boost I'm back in business. Also if I put the charger on once every 2-3 week. The starting is not an issue. But I would like to fix this so I don't have to pay a tow bill Again. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds to me like the battery isn't holding the charge you need to start the car. The radio, lights, windows take less power so you can work them with less charge but starting the car needs almost a full charge of the battery. Any decent auto shop (Auto Zone,O'rielly's, Discount Auto) will do a test of the battery and charging system for free to tell you if you might have a bad cell or non-charging alternator.

Is your engine light on? If so what engine trouble codes are you getting?

If no codes you might have an intermittent parasitic battery drain if your battery load test checks out good with the battery in the PT Cruiser. The 2006 PT Cruisers are known to have some electrical problems including shorts draining the battery.

Welcome to the forum. The problem could be a bad connection, possibly one of the terminals to the battery.

I don't think you explained yourself good enough for everyone to understand what the problem. From what others are posting, they think that your vehicle won't start. I don't think that is the issue because you stated that "the starting is not an issue". Is this correct?

When exactly does the "car dies like you turned off a light switch"?
