Default K&N Dropin

I recently purchased and installed the K&N dropin filter and removed the white baffle from the upper airbox. My ButtDyno sais that there wasnt much of a horsepower gain, if any. But, the quality of the drive has increased. Most of the hesitation has disapeared and the shifts seem to be smoother (indicating to me that it was choking on the old filter).

I just wanted to post this for those that are still trying to get opinions on intake solutions.

Also: where is this mysterious second silencer located? i have looked at my airbox and can only find the white one, the snorkle, and nothing else.

There are actually 3 silencers. You found the one that is easy to remove.

The second on is in the air snorkel that goes from the airbox to the fender. I, and several others, have removed the snorkel, opened it up, taped over the holes and reinstalled it. Others have also shortened the snorkel inside the airbox. Still others have removed the snorkel completely. That gets rid of the obstruction but it will suck warmer air that way.

The third silencer is in the plastic tube from the airbox to the turbo. To get rid of that restriction, you must purchase or make a new airbox to turbo downpipe. I am aware of two. AMX1397 (amx1397@aol.com) has one that I have installed and Adam (www.Prototypepower.com) who also sells a replacement for the upper charge pipe.

Mine is Naturally Aspirated. So there is no tube to the turbo. I looked inside the snorkle and there is nothing in there. And no signs of modification.
