Default Original engine ?

Hi. I have been having a look around the engine for any signs of oil leaks or anything that looks wrong. The car has no problems and drives fine, Its a UK 2001 2.0l Petrol Classic edition.
The one thing that I did notice was that the egr valve pipe was not there, at first I thought that somebody had removed it and blanked it off. However on further inspection I can see that there is not any fixings or blanking plate ect.
I have looked on here and found some pics of how the 2003 model looks without the egr pipe and that is exactly how mine is. I have had a look on the log book to see what the engine number is but it has <not known> instead of a number.
So now I am wondering if at some point a newer engine has been put in? I have noticed that around the back of the engine bay there is a cable hanging with a connector on the end and a plug going into it but there is not any cable coming out of it. Also the wiring loom looks like there has been something done to it as I can see that there is fresh insulation tape wrapped in places. So I am hoping that somebody might be able to tell me if there is anyway to find what year the engine might be.
Thanks in advance
Dazza

Default Re: Original engine ?

Hi!
I have 2001 touring edition 2.0
just replace timing belt, waterpump and other stuff and make same notice.

No egr, no signs that anyone has blanked it.

so i guess we dont have one on these yearmodel in europe.

Ps. I dont have it also in my Grand Voyager (03 Limited)

But thats a good thing
