Smile My radio fix, 2003 Limited, worked but no illumination

My symptoms were no display in the on position. Radio, CD and tape functioned all the time but the display would not illuminate while in the run position. In ACC everything worked as it should. I tried the key wiggle, re-grounded the steering column with no results. I cut the purple w/ yellow trace that leads to the data bus and now the radio works in both positions. Time is being kept correctly, memory stations remain programmed. If any adverse affects occur I will post a follow up but this seems to have cured my woes, I tried this after finding a video on YouTube referencing a data link problem on a different model Chrysler radio. Hope this helps someone.

I had the exact same problem and fixed mine with a zip tie around the connector under the steering wheel. The one where the radio plugs in. Simple pimple and been working like that for 5 months now.

I tried that, I damn near tried everything I could find on the forum. No matter what I did with any of the wires it just wouldn't light up in run. Strangely the switched power at the radio was receiving power with the key so it was getting the correct power from the switch but something in the databus connection just wasn't sending the correct signal. At least I know my dash is well grounded now.
This is the first time since I bought the car it's been illuminated in the run position. WhooHooo!

I had an uncle that once told me if I was going to own Chrysler products (like my dad), that I had better carry around alligator clips, electrical tape and wire cutters, because I'd sure as hell need them! LMAO Uncle Lester has proven to be right over the years.
