Default CRANK Shaft Sensor replace

Does anyone know how to remove the bottom bolt on the starter to enable the replacement of the CRANK shaft sensor?

if you take off the screws for the grill and then unbolt the 10mm bolts for the radiator support, you can tilt the radiator forward and get some hand room.

very easy stuff to unbolt

crank sensor is commonly stuck in there by rust on the block, so you might consider spraying it with penetrating oil and then scraping off any rust(on the block) you can.

i only mention it as there are threads on here about people pulling, breaking the sensors, and having them fall into the oilpan, causing heavy drinking and cursing like a truck driver.

you might post up WHY you're changing the sensor as those very rarely fail and you may be wasting your time. usually it's an 01-02 PT with a wire rubbing the axle or a cam sensor instead. IMO crank sensors is more chevy thing

It's my grand daughter's car. She was on the freeway when it died and refuses to start. I get a P0335 with the tester. I have replaced the cam sensor. I have spark and I smell fuel when we turn it over. Thanks for your reply. After trying to get the starter out this morning, I thought I may have to get the radiator out to get to the sensor.

I usually use a long extension on a 3/8 ratchet to loosen the lower bolt. Then a air ratchet to remove it the rest of the way

P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit

Possible Causes:

1. Intermittent Crankshaft signal
2. Crankshaft Sensor signal circuit is open or it is shorted to ground
3. Crankshaft Sensor supply circuit is open or shorted to ground
4. Crankshaft Sensor ground circuit is open
5. Crankshaft Sensor or Camshaft Sensor is damaged or has failed
6. PCM has failed

I would suggest checking the 5 volt feed before replacing the crankshaft sensor. Also check the wires going to the crankshaft sensor.
