Would a neon strut brace fit a PT?
I'm tired of paying more for parts just because they are for a PT.Since the PT is built on a neon platform, I wondered if the dimensions between strut towers and strut bolt pattern were the same for both vehicles.

Personally I don't believe so. The PT prototypes were based on the Neon platform, but the production PT's can be categorized as having their own platform. Even the struts are different.

If you look at the pictures above, the Neon strut nuts are positioned differently than the PT (the middle nut is located on the inside for the PT). The Neon intake manifold is in the front and not going over the valve cover like the PT. Also the angle or height of a Neon strut bar would probably hit something (hood and/or engine), The PT's struts lie a lot lower in the engine compartment. So you would need to measure for clearances and length. I would suggest buying the Freedom Design Strut Bar, as pictured above on the PT.
PTuning, http://www.ptuning.com/ , has it priced at $89.95 ($129.95 for the turbo) and that includes shipping. The FD is comparable in price to Neon strut bars, at least $20 cheaper than the other PT strut bars out there, and IMHO, I don't see nor have heard from anybody that changed their strut bars to another brand, that there is any performance difference between the various strut bars other than looks or the design. How much is too much [:I] DBROWN is selling his for $100 in the classified section of the forum. Race & Street has a brand new one for $110 and in chrome for $115.

I just installed a APC brand strut bar. Identical to the Freedom brand version. Chrome bar with 2 mounting points on strut mount. It took me about 15 minutes to install. Don't forget to use locktite on the nuts. The front end actually does feel a bit tighter through tight turns. Total cost from Revel Enterprizes, with TN tax and shipping was $97.00.
