Default Won't start gauges flicker and more

Car has been parked for a couple of weeks and started maybe 5 times. Last time was two hours ago when I finished the interior panels and pulled it out for pics. Pulled it back in the shop and it died and wouldn't start back up. Turn the key and it clicks like a dead battery. Battery is new, so I charged it. Still the same. It's at 12.4 volts now. Cleaned cables, even cleaned them all the way to the body mounts. One code, 113 IAT because the air box is off. Now the windows won't move except dr side which incrementally clicks down the more I try to start it. The gas and temp gauge are bouncing on zero with key out. Starter won't even click now. I'm at a complete loss here.

Sounds like you have checked a lot of things that could cause this. While checking the battery voltage, did you do a load test? It is possible to have a bad cell in a new battery.

Thanks for the reply. I sold batteries for 16 years, so I know it's a possibility. I'm taking it in now even though it's only 2 months old. I found an old post on here with the exact same issues and a new battery cured it, so I'm hoping that's it.

Well, I had the battery checked two different places with two different types of machines and both say good with 12.83 volts. Any ideas?

I would suggest checking your ignition switch if the battery voltage does not drop when you turn the ignition switch to the 'on' position.

See if the battery voltage drops more when you turn the ignition to start the engine.

Does the radio work with the ignition on?

Confirm you have a 2005 PT Cruiser?

Yes, it's an 05, standard trans. I Didn't think of the ignition switch.

I was by myself and don't think I could have pushed it on the terrain I have. The starter checked out bad, so I'm putting a new one on in the morning.

I am both relieved and kicking myself. The cables and terminals were the first thing I checked. Evidently, the negative terminal had more corrosion on the inside that I missed. I was to the point of nothing happening and ready to part tje car out after pricing a computer. No lights, radio, etc. Didn't seem right for a computer problem which was all that was left. I channeled my father and replaced it with vise grips. Started up easily. Time to go buy a new cable. I appreciate everyone's help.

If you buy another painted terminal, make sure you sand/file off the paint on the inside & where the 2 ends hold the cable...or you'll have the same problem.
